A House for Essex: site acquisition

We were engaged by Alain de Botton’s Living Architecture to assist with site analysis and acquisition for their programme of commissioning world-leading architects and designers to make exceptional examples of contemporary domestic dwellings, set in sublime surroundings.

We worked on a number of projects, the most high profile being A House for Essex by FAT Architects and Grayson Perry. For this project NEA investigated every nook, creek and cranny of the Essex coast before a site at Wrabness on the estuary of the River Stour in north Essex was eventually selected and secured. Charles Holland of FAT Architects and Perry then collaborated to design and build the extraordinary House for Essex – both an artwork in itself and the setting for a number of works by Perry.

The buildingĀ is now available – via ballot – for rent as a short-term holiday let. See https://www.living-architecture.co.uk/the-houses/a-house-for-essex/overview/
